This book contains a repertoire of strategies designed to meet today’s high standards and reach diverse learners. Twenty flexible strategies (along with variations) are organized into five groups of instruction: (1) mastery of style to emphasize the development of student memory; (2) understanding style to expand students’ capacities to reason and explain; (3) selfexpressive style to stimulate and nourish students’ imaginations and creativity; (4) interpersonal style to help students find meaning in the relationships they forge as team members, united in the act of learning; and, (5) four-style strategies that integrate all four styles.

To help deliver content to students, the authors created a tool called the Strategic Dashboard, which provides information about each teaching strategy in a concise, visual profile.

For each strategy, the book includes: (1) a brief introduction ; (2) an example of a teacher using the strategy; (3) the research base supporting the strategy and how it benefits students; (4) how to implement the strategy; (5) guidance through the planning process and suggestions for designing lessons; and, (6) tools and resources for adapting each strategy.
